Writes the author: «The strolls in this book travel
through the sights of my childhood, which I discovered when
running
after a ball, hunting down the “thieves” up and
down the steps of Sopramuro, “a’ vie e coppa”
or
through the alleyways of Atrani, fishing on the rocks of the
port or during the “hunt” for the “Mattone”
or the “Runghetiello”...
It was in this manner that I fell in love with Amalfi, with
its international and secret soul which
seduces you with the grandeur of its squares and persuades you
to follow it through its alleyways
and up its flights of steps, into the green lusciousness of
its Valley or to dive into its crystalline
waters...
For each trail I have chosen the colour which that stroll
seems to evoke.
Changes in spirit that are not always easy to describe:
The colour of the sky which you deceive yourself that you
can touch whilst looking out from the
Ponte’e Lone,
The majestic grey of the centuries old stones of Pontone
The passion, pink like the ancient heart of Amalfi
The cobalt blue of Capo di Conca
The shocking moist green of the Valle delle Ferriere
The blinding yellow of the sun of Vagliendola and, lastly,
The scent of the pastry in Atrani’s parlours...
